Build A Fort Kit Birthday Party Gift

What do you buy for an 8 year old boy???

I asked my husband what he did when he was a kid. His answer, simple: "built forts, when someone found it we took it down and built a new one."

So We created our very own build a fort kit for outside!!! Perfect for the beginning of summertime.

Whats included you ask??

A tool box
Hammer
assorted nails
rope
bungee cords
walkie talkie / hand held 2 way radios
tape measure
8' x 10' tarp
Instructions for making knots
Pictures of survival shelters for ideas
duct tape

Others ideas we didn't include:
small tooth hand saw (I was not going to be responsible for giving him a saw!!)
flashlights
lumber (we debated this and then figured
he could scavenge for some!! But if you don't have a lot of woods
you may need some old lumber or second hand lumber

We laminated the pages for the ideas and the knots so they could be out in the woods near the forts and not get destroyed!! Little boys are hard on things!

Walkie Talkies (Target $20)

Our simple survival knots

I am pretty sure he thought it was a pretty neat gift! We did! I think I just may make one for us someday.... Fort building sounds like a lot of fun to me!!

What do you think? Anything else critical to a Build a Fort Kit?? What else would you have added? Comment below!

50th Birthday Party

50th Birthday Party

Mom recently turned 50!! For her birthday we had a lot of fun creating a special Candy Gram Card
You can see the words all here on our

Our favorite part of the Party was the 50 Years of memories!

I contacted family and friends through faceboook, email, phone, text etc and asked them to type out a few memories of my mom!! We have over 50 Memories by the time they all came in! It was awesome! Some were hilarious and some serious, but all were a great testament to what a wonderful woman wife and mother she is!! I have learned so much from her! Thanks MOM!

DIY Lacing Cards

Another Busy Bag Idea

So lets add to our Busy Bags...
DIY Lacing Cards

Supplies:
Foam Board
Laces
Hole Puncher
glue

We started with pink, blue, and sparkle foam board. I free handed the designs but you could easily print out a picture and trace it if you need to!

Cut out the shape. We cut out two and glued them together with tacky glue for more stability.
Let your toddler punch holes around the edges. And lace!

I of course forgot to buy laces when I was at the store so we improvised!! We practiced braiding and braided yarn. Then tape the end!

Make Your Own Library Book Bag

No Sew Book Bag

Do you have problems keeping together all of those library book???
We do! It is impossible! We have assigned them a spot, written down the number, even gone so far as to keep a list on my phone of which books we have!! WELL.... NO MORE!

I am so Excited! Today we made a Library Book Bag!! I kind of made this one with M1 in mind and now am thinking I may just want one for myself too! (Although I am sure she wouldn't mind a few of my books hanging out with hers...!)

So our Supplies:

$3 Canvas Tote bag from Michaels
A few clearance iron ons and some letters
A hot iron!

So easy! No sewing required!

Just follow the directions on the iron ons! Usually heat for 60 seconds then flip and 20 seconds on the back side but I would highly recommend you check each iron ons directions to be SURE!

Reminds me of a Song

Let them be Little by Billy Dean

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand
Felt so good in it, no bigger than a minute
How it amazes me, you're changing with every blink
Faster than a flower blooms they grow up all too soon

So let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little.

I've never felt so much in one little tender touch
I live for those kisses, prayers and your wishes
Now that you're teaching me things only a child can see
And Tonight while we're on our knees all I ask is please

Let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

So innocent, precious soul, you turn around and It's time to let them go.

So let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love everyday
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

Let them be little
